*CALL TO WORSHIP (from Psalm 150)                                                   Rev. Erin Angel, Liturgist

Praise God in the sanctuary and in the mighty firmament.

Praise God for his mighty deeds and surpassing greatness.

Praise God with strings and pipes and loud clashing cymbals.

Let everything that moves and breathes, praise the Lord.

*OPENING HYMN NO. 115   Come, Ye Faithful, Raise the Strain

*UNISON PRAYER FOR EASTER

God of infinite mercy and love, we stand in need of forgiveness. You split history with the gift of your Son. The sky turned dark when he died. An earthquake shook the world when he arose. Still we demand more evidence. We want to see and touch, to taste and smell, before we will believe. Help us to feel your power and to know that your love is stronger than any force we can imagine. This we pray in Christ’s name. Amen.

*RESPONSE: HYMN NO. 572      Lord, Have Mercy Upon Us

*ASSURANCE OF PARDON (from Revelation 1)

            Grace to you and peace, from the One who is.

            From the One who was and is to come.

            Christ is the firstborn of the dead and ruler over all the earth.

            By Christ’s blood we are welcomed into the kingdom.

*Gloria Patri, P. 579

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;

            As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

TIME FOR YOUNG DISCIPLES

SCRIPTURE READING                           Acts 5: 27-32

ANTHEM                                                   Easter Carol                                             Richard Proulx

                                               Text: Ambrosian Hymn, 4th-5th Century

On that bright joyful Easter Day the sun arose with brighter ray,

When Christ, to earthly sight made plain, the glad apostles saw again.

Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

Surexit Christus hodie! (Christ is risen today!)

His wounds to them Christ then did show, which from his risen body glow;

And they aloud declared and said: “The Lord is risen from the dead!”

First witnesses to Easter morn were women three who came forlorn;

Then Magdalen did cease her sighs, when Christ she saw with joyful eyes.

All glory, Lord, to you we pay, arisen from the dead today;

O great Creator be our guide throughout the days of Eastertide.

SCRIPTURE READING                          John 20:19-31

The Peace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

                                    And also with you.  (A time of greeting)

            The fellowship of kindred minds is like to that above.
