CALL TO WORSHIP                                                                                    Sharon Myers, Liturgist

Christ’s glory has the power to transform our lives.

We share in Christ’s glory because we share in his suffering.

The Spirit sets us free to love others unconditionally.

We respond with devotion and gratitude. Let us worship God.

*OPENING HYMN NO. 75    O Wondrous Sight, O Vision Fair

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

God of love and justice, you have called us to be your disciples and empowered us to do your work in the world. We confess that we are timid when we should be bold. We harbor resentments rather than offer forgiveness. We are more judgmental than compassionate. Forgive us, we pray, and renew our vision of your glory and your will. Fill us with your Holy Spirit and transform our lives. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen.

*RESPONSE: HYMN NO. 572      Lord, Have Mercy Upon Us

*ASSURANCE OF PARDON (from Psalm 99)

When the people cried out to you, you answered.

You were a forgiving God to people of old.

You are a lover of justice and righteousness.

            Let us worship our God who is holy and just.

 *Gloria Patri, P. 579

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;

            As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

                                                           Virginia Lovellette, solo

Be thou my vision, O Lord of my heart,

Be all else but naught to me, save that thou art;

Be thou my best thought in the day and the night,

Both waking and sleeping, thy presence my light.

Be thou my wisdom, be thou my true word;

Be thou ever with me, and I with thee, Lord;

Be thou my great Father, and I thy true son;

Be thou in me dwelling, and I with thee one.

Be thou and thou only the first in my heart;

O Sovereign of heaven, my treasure thou art;

Great heart of my heart, whatever befall,

Still be thou my vision, O Ruler of all.
