WELCOME AND
ANNOUNCEMENTS
VOLUNTARY God of Compassion, in Mercy
Befriend Us Emma Lou Diemer
(Please sign and pass the registers)
*CALL TO
WORSHIP (from Psalm 5)
Rev. Richard R. Neil, Liturgist O Lord, every
morning you hear our voices.
Through your steadfast love, we
will enter your house.
Inside your holy temple, we bow
down in awe and wonder.
Make your way straight before us,
O Lord, and lead us in righteousness.
*OPENING
HYMN NO. 420 God of Grace and God of Glory
*PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Almighty and most merciful God,
every day we have the opportunity to be good Samaritans, to show
kindness and compassion; to offer praise and encouragement. Yet each
day we fall short of your goal and pass by on the other side,
ignoring the pain and suffering that is all around us. We make
excuses for ourselves while casting blame on others. Forgive us and
remove our sin from us, so that we might walk in your love and bask
in the glow of your light, worthy to be called your good children.
In Christ’s name we pray. Amen.
*RESPONSE:
HYMN NO. 572 Lord, Have Mercy Upon Us
*ASSURANCE
OF PARDON (from Psalm 5)
You are not a God who delights in wickedness.
Evildoers will not be able to
stand before you, O Lord
But let all who take refuge in
you rejoice.
For you bless the righteous and
cover them with your protection.
*Gloria
Patri, P. 579
Glory be to the Father, and to
the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be,
world without end. Amen.
