*CALL TO WORSHIP (from
Psalm 52)
Rev. Erin Angel
I am like a young tree
in the house of God.
We trust in the
steadfast love of God forever.
O Lord, I will thank
you forever for all you have done.
In the presence of
the faithful we will proclaim your holy name.
*OPENING HYMN NO. 263
Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise
*PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Almighty and most
merciful God, we are so often slow to hear your word and recognize
your judgment. We think that we have plenty of time to right any of
our own wrongs, which are minor compared to those of others. We
claim righteousness and believe that repentance is for others.
Forgive us and help us to choose your mercy and be reconciled to you
by Christ Jesus. Let us confess, not only with words, nor even
actions; but, with heartfelt love, that we might be your upright
children. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen.
*RESPONSE: HYMN NO. 572
Lord, Have Mercy Upon Us
*ASSURANCE OF PARDON
(from Psalm 52)
See those who would not take refuge
in God.
See those who
trusted in riches and sought refuge in wealth.
God will uproot the
evildoers from the land of the living.
The righteous will
see all this and fear God.
*Gloria Patri, P. 579
Glory be to the Father, and to
the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be,
world without end. Amen.
