*Call to Worship (from Psalm 146)                                                Rev. Erin Angel, Liturgist

Do not put your trust in princes, or mortals who cannot save you.

Happy are those whose help is the Lord our God.

The Lord made heaven and earth and all that is in them.

I will sing praises to the Lord for as long as I live.

*OPENING HYMN NO. 470          O Day of Radiant Gladness

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION

God of infinite love and mercy, forgive us when we discredit your gospel by our sinful actions. In our frustration we often blame you or others for our misfortune. We envy those who have easy lives and overlook those whose lives are more difficult than our own. Christ gave freely and graciously, yet we are full of doubt and suspicion. Forgive us our wavering faith and heal the divisions within us and between us. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen.

*RESPONSE: HYMN NO. 572     Lord Have Mercy Upon Us

*ASSURANCE OF PARDON (from Psalm 146)

The Lord watches over strangers and upholds widows and orphans.

The Lord sets prisoners free and opens the eyes of the blind.

The Lord lifts up those who are bowed down.

The Lord will reign forever. Praise the Lord.

*Gloria Patri, P. 579

The Peace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

And also with you. (A time of greeting)

Blest be the tie that binds our hearts in Christian love:

The fellowship of kindred minds is like to that above.

Presentation of tithes and offerings

Offertory ANTHEM      Lamb of God, What Wondrous Love                           Gabriel Fauré

Lamb of God, what wondrous love, what wondrous love, O my soul,

Love, such love, that Thou shouldst die, that Thou, for me, shouldst die.

Lord of Grace, what matchless love, what matchless love, O my soul.

Son of God, Thou loving sacrifice, thou loving sacrifice for me.

Here, O Lord, am I, fearful, sinful one.

Guilty and condemned, Thy death is surely mine.

Cross of God, I would to turn away, yet Love it bids me stay, O my soul.

Can it be the very death I fear is that which draws me near, Lord, to Thee?

            *Doxology

            Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below;

Praise Him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen.
