*CALL TO
WORSHIP
Rachel
McCormick
Our beliefs are complex and
difficult to express.
Consciously and subconsciously
our beliefs shape our way of life.
There is life beyond this life,
and it comes with a promise.
The next life promises the end of
pain and suffering.
*OPENING
HYMN NO. 130 Let Every Christian Pray
*PRAYER OF
CONFESSION
Emily McCormick
Many things about faith are
complex and difficult for us to grasp. When we fail to embrace
cooperation and toleration, we bring conflict and devastation into
the world. Sometimes we forget that our treatment of fellow human
beings is central to being Christian. We are called to follow the
golden rule and avoid selfishness. To know what we truly believe, we
must live and share our experiences with one another. God gave us
minds of our own to learn. Our faith and traditions give us the
guidance we need to live our lives in the confusion and the clash of
cultures. Help us always to know that you watch over us and protect
us. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen.
*RESPONSE:
HYMN NO. 572 Lord, Have Mercy Upon Us
*ASSURANCE
OF PARDON
There is one God, whose Son gave
his life so that our sins may be forgiven.
No matter how much we may doubt or sin, God loves us, without
exception.
*Gloria Patri, P. 579
Glory be to the Father, and to
the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be,
world without end. Amen.
