(Please sign and pass the
registers)
*CALL TO WORSHIP (from Psalm
8) Andy
Smith, Liturgist
O Lord, how majestic
is your name in all the earth.
You have set your
glory above the heavens.
You have given us
dominion over the works of your hand.
O Lord, how
majestic is your name in all the earth.
*OPENING HYMN NO. 132 Come, Great God of All
the Ages
*PRAYER OF CONFESSION
God of justice and
love, hear us as we confess our sin. All the earth is yours and you
have created us in your own image, yet we serve idols of our own
making. We confess Christ as savior but look to others for security.
We claim the Holy Spirit but trust in our own wisdom. Forgive us
when we rely only on ourselves and fail to trust in you, your power
and your love. Help us to repent and turn back to your ways. In
Christ’s name we pray. Amen.
*RESPONSE: HYMN NO. 572 Lord, Have Mercy
Upon Us
Lord have mercy upon us.
Christ have mercy upon us. Lord have mercy upon us.
*ASSURANCE OF PARDON (from Psalm 8)
I look at the heavens and the work
of your fingers.
And what are mere mortals that
you care for us?
Yet you have made us little lower
than God.
You have crowned us with glory
and honor.
*Gloria
Patri, P. 579
Glory be to the
Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
As it was in the beginning, is
now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
