*CALL TO
WORSHIP (from Isaiah 65)
Rick Woods,
Liturgist
God is about to create a new
heaven and a new earth.
No longer will infants die after
just a few days.
No more shall old people die
before their days are full.
One who dies at a hundred will be
considered a youth.
*OPENING
HYMN NO. 487 When Morning Gilds the Skies
*PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Almighty and most merciful God,
hear us as we confess our sins. Too often we ignore the lessons of
those who have gone before us. Too often we repeat our own mistakes.
We forget that your hand is always there to guide us. Forgive us.
Open our hearts and minds to your many lessons. Grant us the wisdom
to learn from the past, and the courage to live as your chosen
people. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen.
*RESPONSE:
HYMN NO. 572 Lord, Have Mercy Upon Us
*ASSURANCE
OF PARDON (from Isaiah 65)
Before the people cry out, our God will answer.
While the people are still speaking, God will hear.
God’s people shall not labor in vain.
For they shall be blessed and
called the children of God.
*Gloria Patri, P. 579
Glory be to the Father, and to
the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be,
world without end. Amen.
