ANTHEM         “Come Thou, Holy Spirit”                              Tschesnokoff

Come Thou, Holy Spirit; Holy Spirit, come Thou;
Descend upon us, we pray.
Come blessed Spirit, Thou gift from heaven;
Fill Thou our hearts with joy divine.
O come, Blessed Spirit, come.
Come Thou, Heav’nly Spirit, Thou consoling fire,
Descend upon us, we pray.
Alleluia

ANTHEM               “The Lord Goes Up”                    Malcolm Archer

The Lord goes up with shouts of joy, while trumpets all his triumph tell;
With him humanity is raised above angelic worlds to dwell.

He sits with God, at his right hand, who is the Lord of every thing;
The Father’s glory is his own: Christ Jesus, all creation’s king.

 And when he comes again in might, to raise us on that splendid day,
We shall be gathered up to him, and every tear be wiped away.

 O God, our Father, hear our prayer: With Christ, our Lord, your only Son,
Send forth the Spirit of your love to live in us and make us one.

ANTHEM        “Praise to God, Immortal Praise”       Mary Lynn Lightfoot

                                                       Text: Anna L. Barbauld, 1772

Praise to God, immortal praise, for the love that crowns our days!Bounteous source of ev’ry joy, let thy praise our tongues employ!All to thee, our God, we owe, source whence all our blessings flow.

All that spring with bounteous hand scatters o’er the smiling land; All the plenty summer pours; autumn’s rich, o’erflowing stores; Lord, for these our souls shall raise grateful vows and solemn praise.

As thy prospering hand hath blest, may we give thee of our best; And by deeds of kindly love for thy mercies grateful prove.

ANTHEM       The Prayer of St. Francis”                      Bradley Ellingboe

Lord, make us instruments of your peace.

Where there is hatred, let us sow love;

Where there is injury, let us grant pardon;

Where there is discord, unite our hearts;

Where there is doubt, may we find faith;

When we despair, give hope;

Where there is darkness, give us light;

Where there is sadness, give us joy.

Lord, grant that we may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;

To be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love.

For it’s in giving that we receive; in pardoning that we are pardoned;

And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.

OFFERTORY ANTHEM      “Bread of Heaven”             Peter Mathews

Bread of heav’n, on thee we feed, for thou art out food indeed;

Ever may our souls be fed with this true and living bread.

Day by day with strength supplied, through the life of him who died.

Vine of heav’n, thy blood supplies this blest cup of sacrifice;

Lord, thy wounds our healing give, to thy cross we look and live:

Jesus, may we ever be grafted, rooted, built in thee.

ANTHEM                 “People of the Lord”                           Greg Scheer
                                                                               Text from Psalm 78

People of the Lord, listen to my voice.
Hear the ancient words. Once again, rejoice!

 What we have heard, what we have known
Let our tongues tell our sons and daughters

The wonders of our living God,
That they may join us in the chorus.

Tell of God’s great deeds. Teach his loving law
That faith’s precious seed in each heart may grow.

Tell the news till each generation knows.
They, in turn, will teach those yet to be born.

 May we trust in God, rest in his strong hand,
Live in his strong love, follow his commands.

ANTHEM                                                 “Easter Anthem”                     William Billings (1746-1800)

                                                        Text: Night Thoughts (1742-46)

The Lord is ris’n indeed! Hallelujah! Now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the first fruits of them that slept. And did he rise? Hear it, ye nations! Hear it, O ye dead! He rose! He burst the bars of death and triumphed o’er the grave. Then I rose, then first humanity triumphant passed the crystal ports of light, and seized Eternal Youth. Man all immortal hail. Heaven all lavish of strange gifts to man. Thine’s all the glory, man’s the boundless bliss.

OFFERTORY ANTHEM        “Lift Up Your Heads, Ye Mighty Gates”                        Peter Niedmann

Lift up your heads, ye mighty gates; behold the King of glory waits!

The King of kings is drawing near; the Savior of the world is here.

O blest the land, the city blest, where Christ the ruler is confessed!

O happy hearts and happy homes to whom this King of triumph comes!

Fling wide the portals of your heart; make it a temple, set apart

From earthly use for heaven’s employ, adorned with prayer and love and joy.

Redeemer come! I open wide my heart to thee; here, Lord, abide!

Let me thy inner presence feel: thy grace and love in me reveal.

So come, my Sov’reign; enter in! Let new and nobler life begin;

Thy Holy Spirit guide us on, until the glorious crown be won.
