*CALL TO WORSHIP (adapted from Psalm 41) Pat Wilhelm, Liturgist
Blessed are those who have concern for the poor and needy.
The Lord protects them and sustains them.
You are gracious to us, O Lord, and you have lifted us up.
Blessed is the Lord, from everlasting to everlasting. Amen.
*OPENING HYMN NO. 462 Christ, Whose Glory Fills the Skies
*UNISON PRAYER OF CONFESSION
All loving and most merciful God, our lives are mixed with sin and glory. We can be courageous and cowardly. Our faith is intertwined with doubt. We can be compassionate and hold a grudge. Our humility is pushed aside by pride. We often allow envy to overcome our contentment. Worry steals away our peace of mind. Hopefulness falls into self pity. Forgive us when we find ourselves powerless to change. Help us to repent and make us whole. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen.
*RESPONSE: HYMN NO. 572 Lord, Have Mercy Upon Us
*ASSURANCE OF PARDON (adapted from Psalm 40)
May all who seek the Lord rejoice and be glad.
Let those who love your salvation say, great is the Lord.
Though we are poor and needy, the Lord watches over us.
You are our help and deliverer, and we give you thanks O God.
*GLORIA PATRI, P. 579
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
SCRIPTURE READING 2 Kings 2:1-12 (OT p 317)
This is the Word of the Lord.
