*CALL TO WORSHIP (adapted from Psalm 147) Andrew Smith, Liturgist
Praise the Lord! Praise your God all you people.
How wonderful it is to sing praises to our God.
Great is the Lord; abundant in power and understanding.
Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving, and make melody to our God.
*OPENING HYMN NO. 483 Sing Praise to God, Who Reigns Above
God of love and mercy, hear us as we confess our sin. You sent your Son to look for us but we find ways to hide from you. You call on us to love one another but we hold grudges and seek revenge. We look down upon so many of your children. We think we know the answers for others but we fail to listen to your plans for ourselves. Forgive us, and grant us willing hearts, that we might serve you in the ways that please you best. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen.
*RESPONSE: HYMN NO. 572 Lord Have Mercy Upon Us
*ASSURANCE OF PARDON (adapted from Psalm 147)
The Lord gathers the outcasts and builds up the people.
God heals the broken hearted, and binds up their wounds.
The Lord lifts up the downtrodden and casts the wicked aside.
The Lord takes pleasure in those who hope in God’s steadfast love.

Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might,
heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest. Hosanna in the highest.
It is the practice of this congregation to partake individually of the bread and to hold the cup in order to partake of it as a community. By so doing, we affirm that Holy Communion has meaning to us both as individuals and as a community of believers.
