*CALL TO WORSHIP (adapted from Psalm 111) Mike Birdwell, Liturgist
I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart.
We give thanks to the Lord in the presence of the whole congregation.
The majesty and righteousness of God’s work endures forever.
The precepts of the Lord are trustworthy and are established forever.
*OPENING HYMN NO. 274 O God of Earth and Space
*PRAYER OF CONFESSION
God of never ending mercy, have compassion on us as we confess our sin. You command us to sing praises but we remain silent. You call us to act faithfully but we are slow to respond. We claim to be wise but our allegiance is divided and we are pulled in many directions, often possessed by the false gods of our culture. Forgive us, and help us to obey your precious Son, who calls on us to love our neighbors and heal our broken relationships. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen.
*RESPONSE: HYMN NO. 572 Lord, Have Mercy Upon Us
*ASSURANCE OF PARDON (adapted from Psalm 111)
The Lord is gracious and merciful, ever mindful of the covenant.
God sent redemption to his faithful people.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.
All those who practice wisdom and righteousness will praise God forever.
*GLORIA PATRI, P. 579
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
