Clean Earth & Garden
The Clean Earth Project's first endeavor was participating in the Tennessee Adopt-a-Road program and continue to adopted a part of Dixie Avenue in Cookeville.

Secondly, we created a community garden space on the church grounds for growing vegetables. We donate them to Helping Hands and use them in our Giving Griddles. The garden adds to our overall green space while improving air quality in the downtown area. It's a little bit, but every little bit counts.
Composting
Composting is a process that works to speed up the natural decay of organic material by providing the ideal conditions for detritus-eating organisms to thrive. The end-product of this concentrated decomposition process is nutrient-rich soil that can help crops, garden plants and trees to grow.
Summer heat! Harvesting and refreshing gardens!
To compost:
Veggie trimmings from fresh harvest eating
Shucks and shells and pods from canning and freezing preparation
When clearing out old plants, weeds, and debris consider their pros and cons in the compost process. Insects? Plant disease? Weeds? They DO NOT GO in an open compost pile or compost tumbler.
Putting these into black plastic bags in the sun is a way to allow nature to decompose these items.
